WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) joined a coalition of House members in calling for the resignation of Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. In a letter to President Barack Obama, Congressman Jones and his colleagues pointed out that despite the fact that the DHHS has had several years to prepare for Obamacare’s implementation, the rollout of the Health Insurance Marketplace over the past three weeks has been riddled with serious errors. Specifically, the web site HealthCare.gov – which cost taxpayers 400 million dollars to create – was not adequately tested for data security or for the ability to handle a large number of requests. The letter calls for the president to both request Secretary Sebelius’ resignation and delay the implementation of Obamacare as a result of these problems.

“Secretary Sebelius has proven herself to be incompetent as the head of the DHHS,” said Congressman Jones. “It is way past time for the president to admit to his policy and personnel failures and delay the implementation of Obamacare for individual Americans – just as he has done for businesses.”
